When I thought about how I wanted to navigate the intersection of coaching and home design, I kept coming back to the same word over and over: ALIGNED. When we live in a way that feels fully aligned in mind, body, and spirit, that makes us truly unstoppable forces in the universe. Aligned living also carries over into our homes. It means creating spaces that reflect our most authentic selves back to us. Spaces that give us safe harbor from a sometimes challenging world. Spaces that make us feel alive, grounded and HAPPY!

Some people have asked how The Interior Life approach differs from the services one receives working with an interior designer. To me, this is a fundamentally important distinction. Aligned design coaching is not about me bringing my sense of style or my aesthetic to your space. I am a coach first, which means I lead with tools of exploration, curiosity, choice and empowerment. While I also have design skills and understand design principles, Aligned Design coaching is a collaborative process to help you find your own design voice, and craft a powerful vision for how you want home to look, feel and function. This goes beyond paint colors and fabric swatches…it’s about empowering you to:

• GET GROUNDED—Knowing how you want your home to FEEL is vital.
• CLEAR AND CLARIFY—Everything that does not fit your design vision falls away. This can help cut through the paralysis and confusion that sometimes keeps us stuck in life/design patterns that no longer serve us.
• FIND DESIGN INSPIRATION (aka THE FIRST TWIG)—Every great room starts with one design choice. And another. And another. All you need is that first inspirational piece, big or small!
• MAKE A PLAN—Figure out next steps that make sense given your vision, timeline and budget. This one is big for me. I believe that Aligned Design can absolutely be realized even on a shoestring budget.

By the way, I’m an unapologetic bargain hunter and love spending my weekends wandering the aisles of my favorite discount outlets. I feel an incredible sense of pride that comes with creating something wonderful on a limited budget. Never forget: Fabulous is a birthright, no matter how modest your bank account!
